The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate technical knowledge and skills in sugarwork, chocolate tempering, chocolate confectionary, cake making and decorating, pastry and yeast-based bakery products.

The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, time-managed and able to work under pressure. Previous experience with other RTOs is highly desirable.

About the role:

– Supervise inexperienced students in pastry and cake making in commercial kitchens

– Plan and prepare acquisition of cooking provisions, stock control and menu planning

– Deliver face to face culinary training in a group learning environment

– Coordinate and prepare learning and assessment materials in consultation with the department head

– Build strong relationships with host workplace venues and coordinate work placements for students

– Mark and manage student assessment records and upload documents to the student management database

-Coordinate, monitor and assist in workplace visits for students in the workplace

Skills and attributes required:

Proven current work experience as a pastry/bakery chef in commercial establishments

Qualifications and experience:

  • Relevant Trade qualifications in pastry /baking / culinary arts
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) qualification
  • at least 5 years practical industry work experience

Other attributes:

-An ability to build trust and rapport with internal and external stakeholders

– Problem solving and time management skills

-RTO training experience as a trainer and/or assessor in a similar capacity

– Highly developed organisational skills and strong leadership qualities

– Strong communication skills

– Experience in delivery of group training

– Microsoft office and computer operational knowledge

– Experience with International students and work in a diverse cultural environment
