Terms and Conditions of Enrolment for Short courses (less than 1 week duration)

The following terms and conditions of Enrolment relate to all short course applications for study at Australian Professional Skills Institute. They must be read, understood and accepted by the applicant or any person acting on their behalf including education agent or parent/guardian if the applicant is under 18 years of age.

The applicant acknowledges all information and supporting documents provided in the application is true and accurate. By signing the student application form or confirming the student application, the applicant enters an agreement with APSI and accepts the following terms and conditions including refund policy of APSI. This agreement and the availability of complaints and appeals processes do not remove the right to take further action under Australia’s consumer protection laws. The Institute’s dispute processes do not circumscribe the applicant’s right to pursue other legal remedies.

Bookings

1.1 Courses must be booked prior to attendance as course numbers are limited.
Bookings can be made via email or through our website. All payments must be paid in full at least 2 days before the course. This will guarantee you a place for all booked courses. A confirmation of enrolment letter and an official receipt will be emailed to you or presented to you at the time of enrolment.

Payment can be made via the following payment methods:

  • Cash payments are not accepted.
  • EFTPOS in person at APSI’s campus. An additional 0.29% surcharge will be added to EFTPOS payments.
  • Credit card payment (Visa or Master Card only) is accepted. An additional 1.53% surcharge will be added to the total amount. You can download our Credit Card Authorisation FormHERE
  • Bank cheque payable to “Australian Professional Skills Institute” (all Bank cheque must be in Australian dollars to an Australian bank)
  • EFT / Electronic bank transfer (telegraphic transfer) directly to APSI’s Bank account

Note: All fees must be paid in Australian dollars. Please put your full name/ student number/ invoice number as a reference. An official receipt will be sent to you once your payment is verified. To confirm your payment, please email a copy of the bank transfer receipt to accounts@apsi.edu.au

    Please note APSI does not accept payment on the day of the course unless it is under exceptional circumstances.

    **Bookings for the course are not confirmed until payment has been made.**

    Validity Period

    2.1 Your course(s) (including Gift Certificates) must be completed within 60 days from the date printed on the confirmation of enrolment. After which your entitlement for training becomes null and void.

    Refund Policy

    3.1 All fees paid in advance are non-refundable
    3.2 Courses may be rescheduled or transferred to another person with prior management approval within 60 days. A re-booking fee of $50 may apply.

    3.3 A full refund will be issued in the event that APSI cancels the course(s) for any unforeseen reasons or if APSI needs to reschedule the course to a date that is not convenient for you.

    Lateness and Non- Attendance

    4.1 If the course has been pre-paid and the attendee fails to attend the course without 2 clear working days (48 hours) notice, APSI will reschedule them into the next available course subject to payment of a $50 rebooking fee per course.
    4.2 Any attendee who is more than 15 minutes late to the course start time specified in the booking may not be allowed entry into the course. In this case, the attendee will need to contact APSI reception during office hours to reschedule another date. A rebooking fee of $50 may apply.
    4.3 Working days do not include a Saturday or Sunday.

    Re-Scheduling and Transfers

    5.1 Changing the date of a course is permitted (if the next scheduled course has not reached the maximum of capacity)  at no extra cost if done at least 48 hours before the course starts. The request MUST BE in writing and  you can send an email to service@apsi.edu.au to request the rescheduling.

    5.2 If the booking office receives a request to reschedule a pre-paid course but has not been given at least 2 working day’s notice prior to the day of the training, the course(s) may be rescheduled but is/are subject to the payment of a $50 rebooking fee per course.
    5.4 Purchased courses are transferable to another person(s) within 60 days of the purchase date. APSI must be notified of the name and contact details of the new attendee a minimum 48 hours prior to the course commencement.

    Certificates of Completion

    6.1 Certificates of Completion for Barista course will be issued at the end of the course.

    6.2 A Statement of Attainment will be issued to RSA students after all assessments are completed and marked competent. In the event that the student is required to re-sit the assessments, a re-assessment fee may be charged.

    6.3 Any issuance of a certificate is subject to a replacement charge of $50 per certificate.

    Cancellation of Course

    7.1 APSI reserves the right to cancel any courses, change the content or change the trainer without prior notice. However, every reasonable endeavour is taken to notify the students as soon as practical should unforeseen circumstances which resulted in the cancellation of a course

    7.2  In the event of cancellation for any reason, APSI will make every effort to secure your registration for the next available course. Nevertheless, APSI does not guarantee you will be placed in an equivalent event after cancellation.

    Refusal of Entry

    8.1 APSI reserves the right to refuse entry or request students to leave or be removed if the student is in breach of certain terms and conditions, or if being objectionable to other students for any reason. This includes, but is not limited to;

    • failure to adhere to APSI’s dress code and conditions of use for bar training
    • disturbing, causing discomfort, threatening the safety and security of/to other students, staff, patrons or the property of the provider or the venue
    • if the student is under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs
    • if breaching the laws of the Commonwealth or State.

    The provider is not liable for any loss which the student incurs as a result.

    Dress Code

    9.1 All students should observe the dress code in the industry, this is particularly important when you go for job interviews. For example, it is normally prohibited to wear singlets, micro mini skirts, revealing tops or thongs to class. All students are encouraged to wear enclosed shoes for occupational health and safety reasons.
    9.2 We encourage the wearing of all black attire for the practical Bar skills and cocktail courses, but this is NOT a prerequisite.
    9.3 Trainers reserve the right to refuse entry of any student if the dress attire is not appropriate. In the event that the student misses a class as a result of a failure to have the appropriate footwear or attire a standard $50 rebooking fee will apply

    Valid Identification

    10.1 All students attending a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) must present their trainer, a current valid identification at entry to course. This is usually in the form of ‘photo id’ such as a driver’s license, student card or passport.

    Disclaimer

    11.1 All information published is correct at the time of printing. APSI reserves the right to alter all terms and conditions, course prices and administration fees without notice.
