DOMESTIC FEE FOR SERVICE STUDENTS

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT AND REFUND POLICY

The following Terms and Conditions apply to all applicants seeking to enrol in a course at the Australian Professional Skills Institute (APSI) as a domestic fee for service student. These terms and conditions must be read, understood, and accepted by the applicant or a parent/guardian for the applicant under 18 years of age.

By submitting an application for enrolment, the applicant confirms that all information and supporting documentation provided is true, complete and accurate. Upon signing the Enrolment Agreement and accepting an offer, the applicant enters into a binding agreement with APSI and agrees to comply with these Terms and Conditions, including APSI’s Refund Policy.

APSI reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions where required to ensure compliance with Commonwealth or Western Australian legislation or regulatory requirements.

This Agreement does not limit the applicant’s right under Australia’s Consumer Laws.

Course Fees and Related Charges

  1. All fees and charges are payable in Australian dollars (AUD) and are set out in APSI’s published schedule of fees. APSI reserves the right to vary fees at any time without prior notice.
  2. Course fees are exempt from Goods and Services Tax (GST)
  3. The Registration Fee is non-refundable.
  4. Course fees do not include additional costs such as the registration fee, resource/material fees, uniforms and other inciental expenses. Refer to APSI’s fee schedule: https://apsi.edu.au/domestic-fee-for-service-students/domestic-fee-for-service-student-fees/
  5. Fees must be paid by the due date specified on the invoice or in written communication from APSI. Late payments will incur a penalty of $50 per week.
  6. Course fees are non-transferable.
  7. APSI reserves the right to cancel a course prior to commencement where necessary. In such circumstances, a full refund of all fees paid will be provided.
  8. APSI may withhold the issuance of a qualification or Statement of Attainment where any outstanding fees remain unpaid.
  9. Students are required to meet all payment due dates, including during public holidays, term breaks or workplace training periods.
  10. Miscellaneous fees may apply during the period of enrolment. Refer to APSI’s Miscellaneous Fee Schedule.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  1. Domestic students may pay tuition fees in monthly instalments, with each instalment less than $1,500. After course commencement, APSI may require fees in advance, provided that at no time the total amount attributable to undelivered services does not exceed $1,500.
  2. Resource fees are charged separately one week prior to course commencement and may be paid by instalments. Resource fees will be refunded in full where the resources have not been accessed or used.
  3. All requests for cancellations or refunds must be submitted by using the APSI Course Cancellation and Refund Application Form.
  4. Approved refunds will be processed in accordance with the refund policy and paid to the student’s nominated bank account within 20 working days.
  5. Refunds will only be made to the applicant or the person nominated in the Refund Application Form.
  6. Requests for withdrawal due to illness, disability, death of an immediate family member, or serious political or civil event may be considered for a partial refund. Supporting documentary evidence must be provided. Any refund granted under these circumstances is at the discretion of APSI management.
  7. Students may lodge an internal appeal regarding refund decisions or calculations using the Complaints and Appeals Form. Appeals will be assessed within 10 working days, and a written outcome will be provided. Where the student is not satisfied with the outcome, they may access external dispute resolution avenues at their own cost.

Late Payment of Fees

  1. All fees invoices are available for download via APSI’s student portal, MyWiseNET and it is the student’s responsibility to make sure fees are paid before the due date.
  2. 1st week after due date – APSI sends fees overdue warning letter with A$50 penalty fees per week.
  3. End of four weeks warning period – APSI issues Notification of Intention to Report notice and student needs to contact APSI within 20 workings days to appeal on the decision.
  4. After 20 working days, if the appeal is unsuccessful, APSI will cancel the CoE, report the student to the Department of Home Affairs via PRISMS and issue a course cancellation letter to the student.
  5. APSI will not continue to offer any training including workplace training or assessments once a Notification of Intention to Report Notice has been issued. APSI will only provide attendance records and work undertaken for the period of time when the student’s enrolment with APSI is current.
  6. APSI reserves the right to collect any unpaid fees by using a debt collection agency or by recovering by action in a court of competent jurisdiction. Any costs incurred by APSI to recuperate outstanding fees will be charged to the student.

Student Code of Conduct, Attendance and Dress Code

1) Attendance

Students must attend all classes, tests and assessments during the course and abide by the rules stipulated in the student handbook. APSI reserves the right to terminate a student’s enrolment at any stage if the student is non-compliant with college behaviour and code of conduct. Such information is available in APSI’s student handbook.

Attempts to forge doctor certificates for attendance records will result in suspension from studies and may lead to cancellation of enrolment.

2) Dress Code

  • All students must observe the dress code of APSI.
  • All business students must be dressed in acceptable office attire while attending class.
  • All Aged care students must wear APSI red Polo shirt, black trousers and closed flat black shoes with APSI trainee name badge while conducting workplace training in facilities.
  • All hospitality students must wear a white shirt/blouse, black trousers and closed flat black shoes.
  • All cookery students must wear a whole set of chef uniform(including hat and safety shoes) while doing any practical training in kitchen areas.

3) Others

Any student found to be involved in activities, which contravene Australian law will be automatically dismissed from their studies.

Personal Information and Privacy Notice

Under the Data Provision Requirements 2012, Australian Professional Skills Institute (APSI) is required to collect personal information about you and to disclose that personal information to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER).Your personal information (including the personal information contained on this enrolment form), may be used or disclosed by APSI for statistical, administrative, regulatory and research purposes. APSI may disclose your personal information for these purposes to:

  • Commonwealth and State or Territory government departments and authorised agencies; and
  • NCVER.

Personal information that has been disclosed to NCVER may be used or disclosed by NCVER for the following purposes:

  • populating authenticated VET transcripts;
  • facilitating statistics and research relating to education, including surveys and data linkage;
  • pre-populating RTO student enrolment forms;
  • understanding how the VET market operates, for policy, workforce planning and consumer information; and
  • administering VET, including program administration, regulation, monitoring and evaluation.

You may receive a student survey which may be administered by a government department or NCVER employee, agent or third party contractor or other authorised agencies. Please note you may opt out of the survey at the time of being contacted.

NCVER will collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the National VET Data Policy and all NCVER policies and protocols (including those published on NCVER’s website at www.ncver.edu.au).

Change of Address and Contact Details

All students must supply the most current contact details including address, telephone numbers and email address to APSI during the enrolment. Student can login to student portal – Mywisenet via APSI’s home page to update such information or inform student services via email.  No responsibility will be taken by APSI for any information that students may not receive due to the change of address and telephone numbers.

Application for Course Credit

Applications for course credit based on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer (CT) or Mutual Recognition (MR) should be submitted at the time of application.

Course credit may be granted based on skills and education that a student has already acquired from another provider or other appropriate courses in Australia or in other countries.

A course credit/RPL application form is available from student services. There is no fee for Credit Transfer and there is an application fee for RPL application.

Credit Transfer will only to be granted where it can be shown that the student has successfully completed the same unit with the same unit code and unit description from other RTOs in Australia.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be granted if the unit completed with other providers is

  • Of a similar duration
  • Studied at a similar or higher level
  • Of similar content

Any reduction in course fees as a result of course credit will be credited towards the last payment. A notice of the result will be sent to the student’s email.

English Language Requirements

All students must meet the minimum numeracy and literacy requirements for entry into APSI. For those students whose first language is not English, they are required to provide proof of English language proficiency. Language literacy and numeracy (LLN) test can be conducted at APSI prior to enrolment. If it is revealed that the English language skills are insufficient, the student will be required to enrol at their own expenses in an approved ESL course prior to the commencement of studies at APSI.
